Due to Katies love of Christmas and all things sparkly and glittery, Barend planned the most magical Christmas proposal for the 10th of December 2022 even though he is a grinch and not a Christmas fan. Months prior Barend messaged the organizer of Frankling Street Christmas lights, and katies friends and family so that they could be there.

With the friends and families help they invited her to go look at Christmas lights and he was staying home. Her family suggested she stand up in front of a giant pink heart light display, however due to her stubbornness she wanted to stand behind it and look through. Then she looks next to her and Barend is there on one knee holding an engagement ring, complete hidden from the photos her family taking due to being behind the heart. He had a whole speech planned but was so emotional he could only get out a few words.

Since then Katie likes to look at her ring smile and just says "shiny". Barends favourite colour is green and Katies birthstone is emerald. Katies favourite colour is purple and Barends birthstone is Amethyst. The engagement ring is a beautiful representation of both of us with emeralds and amethysts along with the super sparkly moissanites.
