Shani + Baden

Glink Antonio Farm, Glinks Gully, New Zealand

Despite having never been to Glinks Gully on the West Coast of the Far North, there is something about arriving there that feels like going home. Maybe its the quaint charm of the place, the distance from “town”, the way all the Farms are named after the families that live there, or the way the locals drive along the beach in their 4wds because its faster than taking the road.

Shani + Baden both grew up in this small sea-side town. Baden, a plumber and volunteer firefighter with a passion for fishing, boating, and 4WD adventures. Shani, a healthcare professional on the path to nursing, deeply immersed in music, African drumming, and a Dalmatian band. Together with their shared love for boating, fishing, and 4WD escapades forms the backdrop of their incredible journey.

Their story began in 2019, after years of friendship. Baden, cheeky and adventurous, asked Shani to be his date for a friend's 21st birthday. The night was filled with dancing, singing, and the spark that transformed their connection. On the way home, amidst laughter and shared moments, Baden turned to Shani and asked, ''Shall we do this?'' The answer was a wholehearted yes.

Fast forward a few months, Shani moved in, giving life to a new chapter of their adventure. They were engaged in Noumea in 2022, after a tipsy climb up Amedee Isle's lighthouse, Baden surprised Shani on the balcony of their hotel, proposing without the ring as he had left it behind in NZ! Nevertheless Shani said yes!!!

There was never much of a question about where these two would say I do’s. The Glink-Antonio farm set on a cliff top overlooking the beach they call home was always going to be it! It may have required some mountaintop traversing and trips in the trucks but it was well worth it! Married by a close family friend + celebrant the beautiful Jose-Scott, they were most excited about getting to spend this day celebrating with all of their friends and family - even some they had not met before!

We had a few unique adventures on this day - from getting ready in family beach baches, to family heirloom brooches, to 4 wheel driving down the beach and catching a firetruck back to the reception! Sirens + all! We even had the bridesmaids + groomsmen swap outfits and go Magic Mike on us for their entrance back into the reception! Payback I hear by the bride + groom for a rowdy bucks night! ;) There were practical jokes + funny stories galore, and dancing away into the night!
